Development of IP laws in Myanmar

Myanmar became a founder country of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on 16th, November, 1994. Myanmar joined to ASEAN on 23rd July, 1997 and also became a 176th member country of WIPO on 15th May, 2001. As a member of WTO, WIPO and ASEAN, Myanmar has to abide the obligation of TRIPs Agreement and ASEAN Framework Agreement on IP co-operation.

Accordingly, Intellectual Property Laws were drafted in Myanmar with the assistance of WIPO and other relevant organizations.

Now the following IP laws have been enacted in the year 2019 on the following dates:
