knowledge dissemination course on patent application

The opening ceremony of the “knowledge dissemination course on patent application” provided for responsible persons of technology and innovation support centers (TISCs) was held on July 4, 2024 at 10:00 Am at the Office No. (52) ,IP Department ,the Ministry of Commerce, Nay Pyi Taw and the Director General of the IP Department, Dr. Moe Moe Thwe, gave an opening speech. The ceremony was attended by the Director General, Directors; responsible personnel of the IP Department and the officials from Universities and Research Departments under the Ministry of Education; Ministry of Science and Technology ,Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, totaling (57) persons. In her speech, the Director General has stated that the Patent Law was come into force on May 31, 2024 . This Law will protect patent and utility models and the arrangements have been made to start accepting Patent/Utility Model applications in October, 2024. The Patent applications can be filed by the Inventors/applicants themselves or through their representatives or Patent attorneys. The patent system encourages inventions which will result to increase innovation and further to support Myanmar’s economic growth and development. By exercising Patent system , the inventions can be protected, the development of technology , investment, trade and commercial sectors will be achieved , employment opportunities will be increased and the benefits and interest of people will be uplifted. Subsequently , the Director of the Patent Division, Dr. Pwint Phyo Win, gave a clarification regarding the information about applying for a patent, and answered the questions asked by the attendees. It is reported that the lecture of the course will be given (1) day per week and it will last for (8 )weeks.
