16th ASEAN Regional Trademark Task Force Meeting

The “16th ASEAN Regional Trademark Task Force Meeting “ was held in Jakarta , Indonesia on June 25, 2024 and it was attended by two officials as the representatives led by the Director of Trademark Division, IP Department , Ministry of Commerce .
The meeting was chaired by Malaysia and also attended by Senior Examiners (Focal Points) from the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN member countries who are performing Mark examination tasks.
In the meeting, the discussions are mainly focused on the process of the trademark examination being conducted in the 16th ASEAN member countries, managing to resolve difficult situations (Backlog Problem) to complete examination of applications within the specified period of time, to determine the time duration of examination (Turn Around Time) and the matters relating to the “Trademark Database”. It is also reported that the discussion also included the intention of establishing the ASEAN Regional Trademark System .
